Shave-day skin

A one-room studio for men who shave. Rodrick Elam is a licensed esthetician. He asks how you shave, looks at your skin under a lamp and keeps the visit to 30, 45 or 60 minutes. Anyone who shaves is welcome, and he is taking new clients.

The room

A quiet room

One room, one client at a time, at the back of Suite 7 on Rocky Ridge Road. No music unless you ask, no phone calls taken during your visit and nobody waiting in the next chair. Parking is in the lot beside the building.

  • By appointment only, so the room is yours for the hour

  • A lamp, a bed and a towel warmer; nothing else to look at

  • Rodrick tells you each step before he does it

Your esthetician

One esthetician, one room

  • Rodrick Elam, the esthetician, in a white tunic at a studio counter with amber jars, mask brushes and a folded towel

Rodrick runs Stubble on his own: one room, one client at a time. He has been doing this long enough to know that most men have never been asked how they shave, and he would rather talk through your routine than sell you one. His license is listed in the footer.

From clients

In their words

“I didn't know what to say about how I shave. He asked the right questions, and I left with a short list for shave days.”

Eli R.

“A quiet room and no sales pitch. He told me what he was doing before he did it.”

Jeffery T.

“Forty-five minutes on my lunch break and I was back at my desk on time.”

Leo M.

“He wrote down what I use at home and what he would change. Plain and useful.”

Questions

Short answers before you book

What happens at a first visit?

You start with a short talk about how you shave, with what and how often. Rodrick looks at your skin under a lamp and tells you what he sees before he touches it. Then the facial, and a few minutes to settle. A first visit is 75 minutes.

Should I shave before I come?

Shave the way you normally would that day. If you shave in the morning, shave that morning. If Rodrick would rather you didn't, he will tell you when you book. Stubble, a few days' growth or a beard are all fine to come with.

Who is welcome?

Anyone who shaves, or used to, or has never started. The room and the list are the same for everyone.

How long does a visit take?

The analysis alone is 20 minutes. Facials are 30, 45 or 60 minutes, and a first visit is 75. Every service on the list shows its own time.

How does pricing work?

Prices aren't printed on this site. They depend on the length of the visit and any add-ons, and the booking page shows them when you choose a service, before you confirm. There is no deposit.
